SENIOR GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER - WAFI GOLPU PROJECT - Papua New Guinea
Qualification & Experience:
- Having 5 years experience in a similar role in a mining environment with surface mine infrastructure background
- Project Management Professional certification
- Degree qualified in Mining, geotechnical or equivalent engineering stream
- Well developed facilitation skills
- Well developed change management skills
- Well developed written and oral communication skills
- Well developed coaching and mentoring skills
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, the position is responsible for supporting the Geotechnical Superintendent in managing all geotechnical aspects of the Wafi-Golpu site operations and data collection activities for Pre Feasibility Studies and Feasibility Studies.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Hydrogelogical test programs (packer testing, pump testing, pezometer, etc)
- Rock strength testing
- Establishment of procedures and systems to facilitate the timely and consistent collection of high quality geotechnical data
- Management of site based geotechnical data collection programs
- Geotechnical core logging
- Mentoring and training of geologists and geotechnicians in the art of geotechnical engineering
- Management of geotechnical databases and value adding of data with interpretation
- Assistance with preparation and management of budgets and project schedules
- Establishment of geotechnical management plans for Decline development surface road and drilling activates
- Provision of senior geotechnical management while the Geotechnical Superintendent is off site
