Qualification & Experience:
- Advanced Degree (Masters’ or Ph D) in science or engineering
- Essential experience and job requirements
- Extensive work as a Reservoir Engineer in the petroleum industry.
- Expert level knowledge of complex fluids engineering in the petroleum industry.
- Strong skills in complex PVT data QA/QC, EOS equation of state modeling and fluids data integration.
- Broad understanding of complex fluids issues in petroleum systems.
- Understanding of Dynamic Reservoir Analysis and Evaluation.
- Broad knowledge of physics of various petroleum recovery processes and reservoir management technologies.
- Other essential skills and knowledge
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
- Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Experience with surface facilities engineering and flow assurance.
- PhD preferred
- Published author in recognized industry periodicals
- Experience with WINPROP and PVTSIM software
- Travel required – up to 10%
Job Description and Responsibilities:
Subsurface Technology (SST) is seeking an outstanding individual to join the Reservoir Management Specialist Technical Support (STS) team and deliver high-value fluids specialist support to BP’s fields worldwide. The STS team is staffed across both the Houston (USA) and Sunbury (UK) locations. The current position could be based in either Sunbury or Houston.
This role will:
- Provide solutions to exploration and production business problems in the area of complex fluids
- Assist in the development then deliver complex fluids training courses such as PVT and Equation of State (EOS)
- Consult and act as a technical authority across fluids communities in Reservoir Engineering, Surface Facilities Engineering and Petroleum Systems Geoscience
- Take responsibility for BP’s health, safety and environment (HSE) goals
Key accountabilities
- Seek opportunities to bring in high value fluids work from BP assets, prioritise projects accordingly & perform work with agreement of the STS Team Manager
- Support businesses in PVT laboratory analysis quality control, EOS modeling, sampling strategies and field development/operational planning by direct technical support or consultancy.
- Integrate flow assurance, PVT, EOS and geochemistry to address complex static fluids issues in reservoirs
- Contribute to the development of company wide integrated fluid applications and associated work flows
- Provide coaching to junior staff in complex fluids specialty
